Russia and Ukraine exchange strikes on power infrastructure after ceasefire collapse
Two people were killed and at least 17 injured as Russia and Ukraine exchanged strikes on power infrastructure following the collapse of a US-brokered "energy ceasefire." Ukraine launched over 1,000 drones targeting Russian oil depots, logistics facilities, and datacentres, causing fires in St Petersburg and power outages for 20,000 people. Russian strikes in Zaporizhzhia killed a woman and wounded two others, including a six-year-old girl. The attacks follow US President Donald Trump's unilateral ceasefire announcement, which neither side agreed to and quickly collapsed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported 76 Russian attacks on energy sectors in the past week, while Lithuania briefly scrambled Nato jets over an unidentified flying object.
