Lithuania destroys suspected drone near Latvian border
A suspected drone was destroyed in Lithuania on Sunday morning as it approached the Latvian border, prompting a brief air alert in three Latvian municipalities before the threat was neutralized. The National Armed Forces issued a warning for Bauska, Aizkraukle, and Ogre at 07:40 but withdrew it by 08:12. NATO fighter jets were scrambled but did not shoot down the object, which possibly self-detonated in Pasvalys district, northern Lithuania, near the border. Lithuanian authorities are investigating the crash site, where drone parts have been recovered for identification. According to Lithuanian public media LRT, the initial air alerts were triggered after the unidentified object entered Lithuanian airspace from Polish territory.
