Ukraine launches 1,000 drones at Russia as Trump delays sanctions on Moscow
Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones at Russia on Sunday, setting an oil export terminal and depot ablaze in St. Petersburg, as tensions between Kyiv and Washington deepened over U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to delay new sanctions on Moscow. Trump criticized Kyiv's attacks on Russian oil infrastructure and defended his waiver of sanctions, saying it would keep Russia at the bargaining table, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the move as strengthening Putin's war effort. One person was killed in the St. Petersburg attack, and Russia reported destroying 1,015 drones over 15 regions. Hostilities continued with both sides suffering losses, including a woman killed in Zaporizhzhia and Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy sites despite a recent ceasefire announcement. Ukraine also apologized to Lithuania after a drone entered its airspace, possibly diverted by Russian electronic warfare.
