Lithuania thwarts arson attack on Starlink equipment facility
An attempted arson attack on a Lithuanian facility storing Starlink satellite internet equipment was prevented after intelligence services warned the company and security was increased, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said. The attack is the third attempt to damage Starlink infrastructure in Europe within a month, following incidents in Poland and Bulgaria, suggesting a pattern of targeted attacks on satellite communications important to Ukraine. An unidentified drone also flew over Lithuania, prompting an investigation into possible sabotage. Sinkevičius convened a National Security Commission meeting for October 19 to address the drone incident and consider granting Lithuanian services more powers to neutralize drones. A Starlink ground station in Poland was set on fire on September 23, and 11 antennas were reportedly burned near Sofia, Bulgaria, on October 14.
