Ukraine apologizes to Lithuania after suspected drone incident linked to Russian jamming
Ukraine has apologized to NATO member Lithuania after acknowledging that an unidentified object triggering a nationwide security response may have been a Ukrainian drone, possibly diverted by Russian electronic warfare. Lithuanian authorities reported the suspected drone entered the country on Sunday morning, prompting residents to seek shelter, NATO fighters to scramble, and Kaunas airport to temporarily close. Debris later struck a civilian vehicle. The incident followed a massive Ukrainian long-range drone operation against Russia, including St Petersburg, with Moscow claiming over 1,000 drones intercepted. Kyiv suggested Russian signal jamming and GPS interference may have diverted the weapon.
