Drone attack on St Petersburg kills one, hits oil facilities
At least one person was killed in an overnight drone attack on St Petersburg that struck two oil facilities, with five others injured, according to regional Governor Alexander Beglov. The attack also hit a logistics centre for Ozon and a data centre for VKontakte, Russia's Facebook equivalent, causing fires and temporary disruptions. Kyiv has not commented, though Ukraine resumed strikes this week after a three-day pause following a US-brokered "energy ceasefire." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had targeted Ukraine's energy sector 76 times since the ceasefire declaration, leaving tens of thousands without power. Russia's defence ministry reported shooting down over 1,000 Ukrainian drones overnight, while 12 apartment buildings and two homes were damaged in St Petersburg.
