Ukraine Blames Russian EW for Drone Crash in Lithuania
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry stated that a drone that entered Lithuanian airspace on Sunday, October 18, likely deviated from its course due to Russian electronic warfare measures. Kyiv expressed regret and offered to share information with Lithuanian partners. Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi said Russian actions may have caused the drone to veer off during an operation against legitimate military targets on Russian territory. He thanked Lithuania for its support against Russian aggression, calling it the root cause of regional security threats. Lithuania found drone debris on October 18 and scrambled fighter jets, but weather prevented shooting it down. Latvia and Lithuania declared air alerts that morning. Separately, Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius reported an unsuccessful arson attempt on a facility storing Starlink equipment.
