Turkish Crime Group Suspected in Poland Starlink Arson Attack

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

German magazine Der Spiegel reports that the Turkish criminal group "Dalton" may be behind the September 23 arson attack on a Starlink terminal in Wola-Krobowska, Poland, potentially acting on orders from Russian intelligence. Two detained Turkish citizens, 38-year-old Ümit E. and 34-year-old Müslüm T., are suspected in the attack, with Germany's Stuttgart Higher Regional Court expected to rule on their extradition to Poland. Sources say the men may belong to Dalton or acted on its behalf, and the group could have operated at the direction of Russian secret services. Dalton is considered one of Europe's most dangerous organized crime groups, involved in extortion, arms trafficking, and contract killings. Its alleged leader, Beratcan Gökdemir, was arrested in Russia in 2024, but Moscow reportedly released him and provided protection, possibly expecting favors in return. If confirmed, this would mark a strategic shift for Russian intelligence, which previously relied on low-level criminals for sabotage operations.
