Durov comments on drone strike hitting VK data center he built near St. Petersburg
Pavel Durov commented on a drone strike that hit a VK data center in the Leningrad region on the night of October 18, stating he built the facility 15 years ago and sold it to VK 12 years ago. The founder of VKontakte noted the building was constructed solidly with thick walls but was not protected. Governor Alexander Drozdenko reported damage to transformer equipment and a warehouse complex, while VK's press service said services remain fully operational for users. Air defense systems shot down 145 Ukrainian drones over the Leningrad region that night. One person died and 15 were injured in St. Petersburg, with four more hurt in Vsevolozhsk. The strikes also hit an oil terminal, an Ozon logistics center, and residential buildings.
