Lithuania explains why drone violating its airspace was not shot down

eurointegration.com.ua (Russian) —

Lithuania's defense ministry said a drone that entered its airspace on Sunday was not shot down due to poor weather conditions that prevented visual identification. Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that identifying the object is mandatory in peacetime. Kaunas explained that fighter pilots could not determine what the object was or its threat level because of the weather. He suggested military procedures may be reviewed to prevent similar situations, adding that an analysis of the incident will be conducted. Latvia and Lithuania had declared air alerts on Sunday morning due to the unknown object, with allied military aircraft deployed. Debris from a suspected drone was later found in the village of Juodonis in Lithuania's Pasvalys district.
