EU sanctions on Russia stay until war ends, von der Leyen says

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU will not lift any sanctions against Russia until it ends its war in Ukraine, as stated on Friday in Brussels. The EU is preparing its 22nd sanctions package against Russia. Von der Leyen also noted Europe supports the US-brokered "energy ceasefire" announced October 11, but Russia is not complying with it. EU officials will discuss Ukraine's financial needs for 2026 and 2027. This comes after the US eased some sanctions on Russian diesel and hinted at softening measures against Moscow's shadow fleet.
