Putin, Trump, Xi may meet in China to discuss Ukraine conflict, Moscow says
Moscow announced Monday that a trilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping could occur next month to discuss ending the Ukraine conflict, potentially on the sidelines of the APEC summit in China. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the idea was raised but not finalized, with no specific proposals or agenda agreed upon. Ukraine’s foreign minister Andrii Sybiha criticized the plan, stating that excluding Kyiv would encourage Putin to prolong the war rather than promote peace. Peskov acknowledged that a final settlement would require Ukraine’s participation, though Putin has refused to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky without a peace agreement, citing Zelensky’s expired term and martial law. Kyiv rejects this, arguing Putin’s stance shows disinterest in ending the conflict.
