US failed to warn Kyiv of Russian ballistic strike, Radio Liberty reports
The United States did not warn Ukraine about a Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv overnight Monday, October 19, according to Radio Liberty journalist Alex Raufoglu, citing Ukrainian sources. This marks another failure to provide advance notice of such strikes. Raufoglu reported on X that partners again gave no prior warning about the ballistic attack on Kyiv, contradicting some monitoring channels that claimed the US had alerted Ukraine in time. Russia launched a massive overnight assault on Kyiv using ballistic and cruise missiles and drones, hitting a 25-story residential building in Solomensky district, damaging a medical facility and metro infrastructure, killing a 21-year-old woman and injuring three people. On October 18, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the US had resumed intelligence sharing with Ukraine after a reported blockage over strikes on Russian oil refineries. He stated Ukraine received no ballistic attack data for three days, noting the US specifically provides information on Russian ballistic missile launches, with no warnings given during strikes on October 12, 13, and partially 14.
