Trump Waives Russia Sanctions, Weighs 60-Day Review
President Donald Trump has waived sanctions and tariffs on Russian exports, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying the administration will take up to 60 days to assess the economic impact before a final decision. The waiver comes weeks before midterm elections amid high energy prices. Trump signed an executive order Friday pausing measures under the Graham Act, which included tariffs on Russian goods and penalties on countries buying Russian oil. Rubio cited concerns about global economic effects, noting India's dependence on Russian energy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy criticized the move. Senator Darline Graham disagreed with the waiver, saying she doesn't trust Russia. Rubio also defended a separate US-Russia agreement for Russia to supply over 300,000 metric tons of diesel to the US, saying the fuel would be sold regardless and the deal addresses energy disruptions from conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.
