Peskov: Ukraine settlement impossible without Kyiv representative ready to take responsibility

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, October 19, that a final settlement of the war in Ukraine is impossible without the participation of the Ukrainian side. Peskov stated that conflict resolution must involve a representative from Kyiv who is "ready to take responsibility." He also commented on reports that Putin proposed a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, saying no concrete proposals have been discussed. The Wall Street Journal reported Putin suggested the meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen on November 18-19. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said such a format would only encourage Putin to continue the war.
