Indian refiners' fuel exports to the West jump 43% on Russian crude processing
Indian refiners and plants in Turkiye and Brunei processing Russian crude exported 1 billion euros ($1.2 billion) of oil products to sanctioning countries in September, a 43% jump from August, according to CREA. Reliance Industries' Jamnagar refinery supplied six of seven cargoes unloaded at EU ports, despite the bloc's ban on fuel made from Russian crude. The EU took 667 million euros of products, with Australia, the US, and New Zealand receiving smaller shares. India's Russian crude imports fell 13% in September, the second straight monthly decline, though India remained Russia's second-largest fossil fuel customer at 4.1 billion euros. CREA recommends applying the ban at the refinery level, a proposal from the advocacy group rather than policy.
