Ukraine's Air Force reports two Russian ballistic missile waves, no warning before first strike
Ukraine's Air Force reported two waves of Russian ballistic missile strikes on the night of October 19, stating that no warning from international partners was received before the first attack, while information did arrive before the second. Air Force spokesman Colonel Yuri Ignat said the first strike occurred at 11:00 PM and the second at 3:00 AM. He noted that partner warnings have failed before, citing a previous massive attack with 39 missiles, and emphasized that Ukraine relies on its own radar tracking and official Telegram, Viber, and WhatsApp channels to alert citizens, giving only minutes to seek shelter. Ignat stressed that ballistic missiles from Russian border regions have extremely short flight times, making siren activation algorithms lag behind impacts. He added that experts are investigating the warning failure with partners, and warned that similar attacks may be repeated, urging continued vigilance.
