Zelensky urges backing for US sanctions on Russia after Trump halts them
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged public support for new U.S. sanctions on Russia after President Donald Trump paused them, warning the move could leave Ukraine exposed to escalating attacks as winter approaches. Trump signed an executive order putting the sweeping restrictions on hold, two days before a deadline set in the legislation named after late Sen. Lindsey Graham. The bill targeted Russian officials, banks, and a shadow fleet of tankers. Zelensky called the decision unfortunate but avoided direct criticism of Trump. Overnight Russian attacks killed at least four people in Ukraine, including an ambulance driver, while Ukrainian drones killed a woman in Russia's Belgorod region and disrupted Moscow flights. Zelensky also said Ukraine was investigating sudden speed restrictions on its Starshield satellite service, which hampered drone operations.
