Kyiv hit by Russian missiles and drones, killing one and injuring eight
Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones starting the evening of October 18, killing one person and injuring eight others, according to the State Emergency Service. The strikes affected at least three districts of the capital. Mayor Vitaliy Klichko reported impacts in the Desnyansky, Dniprovsky, and Solomyansky districts. A 21-year-old woman was killed in a fire at a non-residential building in Desnyansky, where a metro station, cars, and a medical center were also damaged. In Solomyansky, debris hit the first floor of a 25-story residential building, damaging its facade and windows. The metro stations "Chernihivska" and "Lisova" were closed, with trains running from "Akademmistechko" to "Darnitsa." US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the US did not warn Ukraine about the ballistic strike due to a problem with the early warning system, though intelligence sharing was not suspended.
