Zelensky: U.S. government ordered Starlink limits for Ukraine, still in effect
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the signal to restrict Starlink and Starshield services for Ukraine came from the U.S. government, and the restrictions remain in effect. Zelensky stated the message originated from the U.S. government, though he did not specify who, and that SpaceX technically implemented the speed limit. He confirmed the service is not fully restored, with maximum speeds capped at 161 km/h, disrupting military missions. The restrictions, first reported on October 14, affected the military Starshield package and drone operations. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk attributed the limits to the U.S. government, while President Donald Trump denied involvement. Ukraine is negotiating with SpaceX, the Pentagon, and U.S. officials to lift the restrictions.
