Russia strikes Ukraine's power grid, leaving 11 regions without electricity
Russia launched a massive combined drone and missile attack on Ukraine's civilian energy and critical infrastructure overnight and in the morning, causing damage and power outages in at least 11 regions of the country. According to Ukrenergo and Prime Minister Serhii Koretsky, the enemy used a combined tactic: drone attacks throughout the day followed by a missile strike at night and in the morning. Outages were recorded in Volyn, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Ternopol, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Odesa, Mykolaiiv, and Kyiv regions, where repair crews have begun restoration work where security allows. Beyond energy infrastructure, strikes also damaged warehouses with medicines, railway stations, commercial premises, and residential buildings. Koretsky stated that energy was the primary target, but other civilian objects were hit as well, with debris clearance and equipment replacement underway at the sites.
