Bessent warns Zelenskyy against false claims on U.S. support for Ukraine
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to "be very careful" about public claims regarding U.S. support, calling recent statements about Starlink slowdowns "reckless" and untrue. Zelenskyy alleged on NBC's "Meet the Press" that the U.S. government was responsible for slowing Starlink internet in Ukraine and blocking intelligence access. Bessent countered that President Donald Trump and Secretary Marco Rubio categorically denied such actions. Starlink, provided by Elon Musk's SpaceX, is critical to Ukraine's defense. Musk stated on X that the U.S. government and Trump ultimately control Starshield, the military version, while Trump denied any responsibility for the slowdown.
