US warns EU of retaliation if Starlink is restricted
The US has threatened the EU with severe retaliation if it restricts American tech companies like Starlink, following a European Commission proposal to reserve satellite spectrum for European firms. US Ambassador Andrew Puzder warned Brussels of a "devastating" response. Puzder argued the EU cannot boost its competitiveness by reducing American efficiency and called the proposal illegitimate. He cautioned that the US market is too large for such actions, urging the Commission to abandon the plan. Separately, the FT reported the EU rejected a US proposal to partially unfreeze Russian assets to restart Ukraine talks. Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged significant disagreements but stressed the partnership must not be destroyed.
