Kremlin floats Putin-Trump-Xi summit in China to end Ukraine war
The Kremlin has floated the possibility of a trilateral summit in China this November involving Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, aiming to negotiate an end to the war on terms favorable to Moscow. The proposal was made by Putin during a phone call with Trump, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who said all three sides acknowledge the hypothetical possibility of such a meeting, though no clear agenda exists. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not planned to be invited. The meeting could occur on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, with Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov suggesting China should initiate the talks. Meanwhile, Trump has frozen sanctions legislation against Russia, blaming Zelensky for prolonging the war, while Zelensky views Washington's actions as an attempt to push Ukraine toward capitulation.
