Putin proposes Ukraine talks with Trump and Xi, excluding Kyiv
Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed trilateral talks with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, excluding Kyiv from the negotiations. The proposal was made during a phone call with Trump on October 9, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources. The meeting is suggested for November 18-19 on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen, China. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed discussions but said no agreements exist yet. A senior US official said Trump has not agreed to the meeting but may consider it. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously criticized Washington-Moscow deals on diesel fuel and warned about potential US sanctions relief for Russia.
