Lithuania tightens security after Starlink base attack blamed on Russia
Lithuania is increasing security at critical infrastructure after an attempted arson attack on a Starlink base in Vilnius, which Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius blamed on Russia as part of its hybrid warfare. He promised stronger air defenses and heightened vigilance around essential service providers. The attack, using Molotov cocktails at night, was extinguished by a security guard. Similar incidents include a September 23 fire at a Polish Starlink base and eleven antennas burned in Bulgaria last week, with Lithuanian authorities having warned a company beforehand based on these events. The security council also discussed a Ukrainian drone that crashed in northern Lithuania on Sunday, carrying explosives. Ukraine apologized, suggesting Russian electronic warfare may have diverted the drone from its intended targets in St. Petersburg.
