Zelenskyy accuses Russia of cluster bomb strikes on Kyiv, killing four
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of using cluster warheads in overnight strikes on Kyiv and other areas, killing at least four people and injuring 34, including five children. The attacks came less than a day after U.S.-mediated negotiations in St. Petersburg. Zelenskyy said three ballistic missiles with cluster warheads hit Kyiv, detonating in the air and striking everything within a 400-meter diameter. Russia, like the U.S., has not signed the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions, which over 100 countries have banned. Russia's Defense Ministry reported downing 808 Ukrainian drones overnight, with over 600 fired toward Moscow. The strikes followed U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff's meeting with President Putin, where he called him a humanitarian after Russia released American Stephen Hubbard. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow would study proposals but talks would take time. Zelenskyy noted 170 strikes on energy infrastructure since Oct. 11, and has urged President Trump to provide interceptor missiles.
