Witkoff heads to Russia for Putin meeting after positive Zelenskyy talks
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in St Petersburg for talks with Russian leaders on Wednesday, following "positive" discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Oslo, as Washington intensifies efforts to end the war. Witkoff is scheduled to meet President Vladimir Putin, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying the envoy would share results from the Zelenskyy talks. Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner attended the Oslo meeting virtually and is expected to join the Putin talks remotely. The Oslo meeting included prime ministers of Norway and Finland, plus EU and NATO representatives. Zelenskyy said "very important" US intelligence had been restored, though he accused Washington of slowing Starshield internet service, which Rubio denied. Russia and Ukraine continued long-range attacks, with casualties reported in both countries.
