US envoy Witkoff meets Putin in St. Petersburg after Zelensky talks in Norway

US special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in St. Petersburg on Wednesday to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, following a prior meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Norway, two sources told Reuters. Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev will greet Witkoff at the airport and participate in the Putin meeting. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described Witkoff's Zelensky talks as "positive" with "nothing unexpected," saying Witkoff will share those ideas with Russian officials to seek progress. Rubio made the comments in Mumbai during a two-day India visit. The trip marks another diplomatic effort amid ongoing tensions, with Witkoff shuttling between Ukrainian and Russian officials to advance negotiations.
