Witkoff to Visit Russia for Talks on October 21
US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff will arrive in Russia on Wednesday, October 21, for talks with President Vladimir Putin, sources confirmed to TASS. The visit follows Witkoff's negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Oslo on October 20. The Oslo meeting, which included Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and representatives from Germany, Britain, France, Poland, and NATO, addressed security guarantees for Ukraine, territorial issues, sanctions, and post-war European security architecture. Stubb reported "real progress" on both general settlement parameters and short-term goals, with ideas to be presented in St. Petersburg on October 21. Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner participated remotely due to flu. Ukraine presented new proposals during the Oslo talks, according to a US official cited by Reuters. Zelensky rejected any negotiations about Ukraine without its participation, responding to reports of a proposed November trilateral meeting between Putin, Trump, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
