Putin agrees to resume Ukraine peace talks after November 10
Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed in principle to resume trilateral peace talks with the United States and Ukraine after November 10, following a meeting with US envoy Steve Witkoff in St Petersburg, the Kremlin announced Wednesday. Kremlin foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov said the proposed negotiations would focus on building a post-conflict security system for Russia and Ukraine, marking a resumption of the three-way diplomatic process stalled since February. Witkoff briefed Putin on his Tuesday discussions in Oslo with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other leaders. Separately, Ushakov said preparations were under way for a possible first-ever summit involving Putin, Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, potentially alongside the APEC summit in Shenzhen next month. However, the Kremlin noted no confirmed date or final terms for either the talks or the summit have been established.
