Musk reportedly ordered Starshield restrictions for Ukraine
Two US media outlets report that SpaceX founder Elon Musk ordered restrictions on the Starshield satellite service used by Ukraine, after he previously pointed to the White House, which denies involvement. Reuters had reported the order came from the White House, but US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday the Pentagon made no changes. The British Telegraph reported Musk proposed the restriction to President Trump, who approved it, with both sides involved. Kyiv has reported throttling of Starlink and Starshield for days, accusing Washington of deliberately reducing transmission speeds. The services are vital for Ukrainian military communications and drone operations. US-Ukraine relations have deteriorated recently amid Trump's actions on Russia sanctions and diesel supplies.
