EU demands Musk lift Starlink restrictions for Ukraine
The European Union has demanded that Elon Musk immediately restore full Starlink functionality for Ukraine, calling reports that he restricted the satellite internet service "extremely concerning." The EU stressed Ukraine needs Starlink for military communication, civilian protection, and drone operations. Ukrainian forces noticed last week that their military Starlink version suddenly underperformed, limiting drones to 160 km/h instead of the 450 km/h needed to intercept Russian Shahed drones. The military also lost connections with drones used for attacks on Russian targets. Musk referred questions to President Trump, while the Wall Street Journal and CBS News reported Musk made the decision himself after consulting Trump. Defense Secretary Rubio denied any US government order to restrict the service.
