Rubio says US unaware of SpaceX system issues used by Ukraine in war
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday the US government had no prior knowledge of reduced speeds in SpaceX satellite systems used by Ukraine in its war against Russia. He stated decisions belong to SpaceX, not the White House. Speaking in Mumbai, India, Rubio said President Trump has no involvement in Starlink, Starshield, or Elon Musk's decisions, calling SpaceX a private company. He denied Washington restricted Ukraine's access to Starlink, contradicting Ukrainian officials' claims of military communication disruptions. Ukrainian President Zelensky reported frontline units experienced reduced speeds coordinating drone attacks. Ukrainian authorities accused the US of slowing systems after Trump criticized strikes on Russian refineries. Zelensky also alleged delays in interceptor missile deliveries, as Kyiv seeks to preserve American support amid peace negotiations.
