Elon Musk ordered Starlink restrictions for Ukraine, WSJ reports
Elon Musk ordered restrictions on the military version of the Starlink satellite system used by Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing informed sources. The move has caused confusion and an informal White House investigation. Musk and President Donald Trump discussed the Starlink restrictions during a phone call after the slowdown became public, though one source claims the conversation occurred before the limits were imposed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that people could die without full service restoration, while some US officials say Musk acted independently and Trump did not order action against Ukraine. The restrictions, first reported October 14, disrupted military missions and affected drone operations at speeds above 160 km/h. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth denied Washington issued any orders, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio rejected White House involvement, saying the system is reportedly working again.
