nrk.no (Swedish) —

US special envoy Steve Witkoff has landed in St. Petersburg for Ukraine talks with Vladimir Putin, after which he will return to Oslo for further discussions, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre confirmed Wednesday. Witkoff will brief Putin on Tuesday's Oslo meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and relay Ukrainian and European leaders' views. Zelenskyy remains in Oslo, meeting parliament leaders Wednesday. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the talks positive but unsurprising. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had requested such a meeting. Russian and Ukrainian observers expressed low expectations, though some see diplomatic progress emerging. Zelenskyy requested Norway and Finland host the talks amid strained US-Ukraine relations.
