Zelensky: Ukraine must join any US-China-Russia talks on the war

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that trilateral talks between the leaders of the US, China, and Russia regarding the war would only be acceptable if Ukraine participates. Speaking at a joint press conference in Oslo on Tuesday, October 20, with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Zelensky emphasized the principle "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine," saying any discussions about Ukraine's future require Kyiv's presence at the negotiating table. The Wall Street Journal reported on October 18 that Putin proposed a meeting with Trump and Xi to end the war on Moscow's terms. Trump has expressed openness to such a trilateral meeting, while The Guardian warned that negotiations without Kyiv would represent a victory for Moscow.
