Musk slows Ukraine's access to Starshield satellite system
Elon Musk ordered a slowdown of Ukraine's access to the military satellite communication system Starshield, according to The Wall Street Journal. The move has rendered some Ukrainian attack and interceptor drones virtually useless due to reduced data transmission speeds. The WSJ reports that some US officials claim Musk made the decision independently, while one source said he consulted with senior American administration figures, including its head, before limiting speeds. The slowdown has caused panic in Kyiv. Musk has previously stated that the Starlink satellite system is not intended for offensive military operations. That statement came amid Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's dissatisfaction with restrictions on the system's use.
