Musk Orders Throttling of Ukraine's Starshield, WSJ Reports
Ukraine's military use of SpaceX's Starshield satellite service has been throttled, degrading its strike and air defense capabilities, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing U.S. officials. The speed limit was ordered by Elon Musk. The restriction, imposed last week, rendered some Ukrainian attack and interceptor drones nearly useless. Musk and President Donald Trump had both expressed anger over Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries, which Trump blamed for high fuel prices. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the decision rests with SpaceX and Musk, not the White House, and that the government was not informed beforehand. Ukrainian officials say they are awaiting formal responses from the Pentagon and SpaceX regarding whether connectivity will be restored.
