Witkoff returns to Oslo to brief Ukraine and Europe on Putin talks
Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff flew to Oslo on Wednesday, October 21, after talks with Putin in St. Petersburg to brief Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on the negotiations. Støre met Witkoff aboard a private plane at Gardermoen airport, with the stop aimed at sharing details of the Russia talks before Witkoff returns to the US. Støre earlier suggested Russia may be seeking diplomatic options and stressed Europe cannot leave the matter solely to Americans. Ukrainian President Zelensky did not wait for Witkoff in Oslo, saying Støre would learn the results. On October 20, Zelensky met Witkoff in Oslo, proposing a trilateral leaders' meeting and handing over security guarantee options for Ukraine.
