Russia Rejects Political Concessions in Ukraine Peace Deal
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow rejects making political concessions in any peace proposal with Ukraine, despite reviewing a US plan presented by envoy Steve Witkoff. Lavrov stated Russia will examine the American offer but will only accept it if it benefits Moscow economically and financially, without political compromises. Witkoff is scheduled to travel to Moscow on Wednesday to meet President Putin, following talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky in Norway. Zelensky met Witkoff in Oslo alongside Norwegian and Finnish leaders, emphasizing Ukraine must be present at any negotiations involving its future. The meeting occurs amid US-Ukraine tensions over intelligence sharing and Starlink satellite access, with Zelensky also addressing a potential US-Russia-China trilateral summit.
