US-mediated peace talks fail to stop Russia-Ukraine overnight attacks on Kyiv and Moscow
Russia and Ukraine exchanged heavy overnight attacks on Thursday, with missiles striking Kyiv and hundreds of Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow, despite ongoing US-mediated peace negotiations. Russian strikes wounded 15 people in Kyiv and damaged metro infrastructure on the South Bridge over the Dnipro River, while a separate attack killed a woman in the Kharkiv region. Russia reported 630 drones launched toward Moscow, wounding two people, with additional drone attacks hitting Lipetsk and Tula regions. The attacks follow US envoy Steve Witkoff's meetings with Presidents Zelenskiy and Putin this week, including the release of American Stephen Hubbard. Ukraine supports proposed trilateral talks, and Putin has agreed to resume US-mediated peace discussions as soon as next month.
