Zelenskyy calls Oslo talks with Witkoff constructive, but wary of Putin meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said talks with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo on October 20 were constructive, following earlier tensions over alleged American pressure on Kyiv to capitulate. Zelenskyy noted positive signals from the US after a phone call with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and described the dialogue with Witkoff as very constructive, emphasizing that all parties seek peace. He cautioned that outcomes remain uncertain, saying "we will see what happens tomorrow." Witkoff is scheduled to visit St. Petersburg on October 21 to present Russian dictator Vladimir Putin with ideas from the Oslo meeting, including a document on security guarantees for Ukraine, with a NATO Article 5 analogue among the options.
