Zelensky Open to Freezing Front Lines to End War
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is ready to freeze current front lines in the war to end the conflict, calling it a realistic path forward in a Wednesday interview with Fox News. Zelensky stated that freezing front lines and halting fighting is the minimum demand from Russia, after which Kyiv would seek security guarantees from the US and European leaders. He was responding to a question about accepting a peace deal retaining at least 75% of Ukrainian territory. Kyiv has previously proposed such ceasefires, but Moscow rejected them, claiming it would allow Ukraine to rearm. Meanwhile, US envoy Steve Witkoff presented new proposals to Putin in St. Petersburg, and Russia has signaled openness to resuming trilateral talks next month.
