Musk reportedly throttled Starlink for Ukraine after Trump talks

t-online.de (German) —

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk reportedly ordered the throttling of Starlink internet services in Ukraine, after discussing the matter with President Trump, according to the Wall Street Journal. The restrictions disrupted Ukrainian military drone operations last week, causing widespread anger in Kyiv. The White House denies Trump issued any such order, though sources confirm talks occurred between SpaceX and administration officials. Ukrainian officials say they await official clarification on whether connections are fully restored, while the Pentagon has not publicly explained the restrictions. Musk previously refused Kyiv's 2023 request to use Starlink for drone strikes on Crimea, but in 2026 helped Ukrainian users block unauthorized access by Russian soldiers. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy reported Tuesday that data reception from the US has resumed.
