Musk ordered Starlink slowdown in Ukraine, WSJ reports

interfax.ru (Russian) —

The Wall Street Journal reports that Elon Musk ordered a recent slowdown of Starlink satellite internet service used by Ukraine, according to US officials. The restriction hindered Ukrainian drone operations in both defensive and offensive missions. Musk discussed the Starlink decision with President Donald Trump after the connectivity issues became public. One source said Musk, a Trump ally, had discussed limiting Starlink with administration officials before the restriction took effect. The report follows Trump's October announcement of a diesel fuel deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he blamed Ukraine for rising fuel prices. Democratic lawmakers Adam Smith and Adam Schiff criticized the actions, with Schiff calling for a Senate investigation and sworn testimony from Musk.
