US lawmakers demand probe into Musk's Starlink slowdown for Ukraine
US lawmakers from both parties are demanding a congressional investigation into Elon Musk's alleged decision to slow Starlink service for Ukraine's military, calling it a potentially serious legal violation. Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick said on CNN that if Musk ordered the slowdown, it is "probably a violation of the law," and witnesses should be subpoenaed under oath. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren also called for an inquiry, stating that one individual dictating US foreign policy puts the nation at great risk. The Wall Street Journal reported on October 21 that Musk personally ordered restrictions on the military Starshield package, disrupting Ukrainian drone operations and missions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the slowdown a "big mistake," while Musk and the White House have denied responsibility.
