Zelensky: Ukraine must join talks on its future
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the US, China, and Russia are free to hold trilateral meetings, but any discussions concerning Ukraine's future must include Ukraine at the negotiating table. He made the remarks during a joint press conference in Oslo on October 20. Zelensky emphasized the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine," responding to reports of a potential US-China-Russia summit. He noted that his morning began with positive signals from the US, including a phone call with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and a constructive meeting with special envoy Steve Witkoff. Witkoff was scheduled to travel to Russia the following day to meet with Russian leadership. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine, the US, and Europe all share the goal of ending the war, but any acceptable resolution requires Ukrainian participation in the negotiations.
