Witkoff to fly to Russia with Oslo meeting ideas for Putin
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that talks in Oslo with a US delegation led by Steve Witkoff were "good and constructive," and that Witkoff will travel to Russia on October 22 to convey ideas from the meeting to Vladimir Putin. Støre said the discussions, held with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Finnish President Alexander Stubb, focused on advancing the diplomatic process. He confirmed that Witkoff will deliver proposals developed by European and American representatives to Putin in St. Petersburg, potentially paving the way for a leaders-level meeting. The talks follow reports that the US is pressuring Ukraine to accept a peace agreement, with Witkoff and Jared Kushner reportedly conveying this message. The Norwegian PM noted Ukraine requested the US envoys' participation, and that the goal is to steer diplomatic efforts in a more constructive direction.
