Witkoff to propose Putin talks with Zelensky and Trump in Russia visit

rbc.ua (Ukrainian) —

US envoy Steve Witkoff will visit Russia to discuss proposals for ending the war in Ukraine, potentially paving the way for a trilateral meeting between Presidents Trump, Zelensky, and Putin. Witkoff will travel to St. Petersburg after talks in Oslo with Zelensky and European leaders, where he will exchange ideas and proposals developed by US and European colleagues with Russian officials. Zelensky emphasized the importance of a potential three-way meeting, noting some issues can only be resolved directly by state leaders. Trump previously stated that a personal meeting between Putin and Zelensky may not be necessary to reach a peace agreement. Witkoff's trip follows his October 20 visit to Norway for negotiations with Zelensky and European leaders, after which he plans to meet with Putin.
